It is with deep sorrow and sincere sympathy that we have learned of the tragic consequences of the devastating earthquake that struck Venezuela, causing loss of life, injuries, and incalculable destruction.

The Grand Benevolent Body of the National Grand Lodge of Greece, guided by the fundamental principles of solidarity, philanthropy, and active service to our fellow human beings, expresses its unwavering solidarity with the people of Venezuela. We stand ready to assist our fellow human beings who are facing hardship during this difficult time, to the best of our ability.

At this time, we are collecting essential goods and medical supplies destined for Venezuela, in close collaboration with the organization Help Hellas.

The Kassandros Lodge, No. 29, through the generous sponsorship of a brother of the Lodge, presented the Association for the Care of People with Special Needs and Intellectual Disabilities “Agioi Theodoroi” of Rodopi, equipment for cognitive and mobility support (a footrest, a special bed, and support materials), valued at 2,700 euros. The Association for the Care of People with Intellectual Disabilities in Rodopi Prefecture “Agioi Theodoroi” (axiZO) is a specially recognized organization founded in 1981 in Komotini. It provides care, education, and recreational services to adults and minors with severe intellectual disabilities and other related disabilities.

The ENOSIS Lodge of Lefkada, No. 16, in close collaboration with the Great Philanthropic Society, carried out 13 social solidarity initiatives totaling 8,300 euros between December 2021 – May 2026, supporting various charitable organizations, students, brothers in need, and cultural institutions. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the brothers for their compassion, their generosity, and their sense of responsibility.

With the support of M.A.S., the “DIONIS 32” Student Association carried out a series of solidarity initiatives: – Distribution of “Love Packages” to underprivileged families during the holiday season. – Donation of food to the Ioannina Unit for People with Disabilities of the “Neomartyr Georgios” Foundation. – Donation of food and toys to “Ark of the World” in Pogoniani, Ioannina, to support children in Child Protection Units. Specifically, the members of the S.S. DIONIS 32, with the assistance of the M.A.S., collected a significant amount of food, which they distributed on December 22, 2025, to families in need in the form of “love packages.” Additionally, during the same period, they donated food to the Ioannina Center for People with Disabilities “Neomartyr Georgios Foundation,” as well as food and toys for the children at the “Ark of the World” Child Protection Centers in Pogoniani, Ioannina. Both of these facilities are overseen by the social welfare center of the Epirus region.

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the official dinner of the General Assembly, the Great Philanthropic Society had the distinct honor of presenting a check for €5,000 to the President of the Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELLOK), as a tangible gesture of solidarity and social contribution to the important work carried out by the Federation for people battling cancer. The Hellenic Cancer Federation is the official secondary representative body for cancer patient organizations in Greece, comprising 52 member organizations from across the country and supporting all types of cancer—common, rare, and pediatric.

ELLOK (ellok.org) The event was also attended by the Federation’s President, George Kapetanakis, who accepted the first symbolic check and then presented the Federation’s important work to those in attendance. His words deeply moved those present and immediately awakened the spirit of solidarity and generosity among the Brothers. Lodges and individuals responded spontaneously, offering their support for this common cause. Particularly moving was the moment when Grand Master Ioannis Benetatos, together with the President of the Philanthropic Society, thanked the Brothers and the lodges for their immediate response. By the end of the evening, the total amount of spontaneous donations had reached 41,000 euros, proving in practice that through unity, brotherhood, and collective effort, we can always achieve more.

At the request of a Sister Lodge, a beloved old brother – a role model for the H.M.S.T.E. – received a donation of an electric wheelchair, which will now allow him to move comfortably within his home.

Let us all be proud of this act of brotherly service.

This move brought great joy to the brother and gave him back the freedom and dignity of his daily life.

In particular, I express my sincere thanks to the brother who acted promptly and with real interest in accepting and implementing the request.

His act is a shining example of the power and meaning of brotherly love.

The President and the members of the Great Benevolent Body visited today, Friday, October 17th, the SOS Children’s Villages in Vari. During the visit, they offered stationery and school supplies for all the children living in the shelters, covering the needs of the new school term.

The President Mr. Dimitris Zographakis spoke with the Director of the structures, Mr. Pantelis Veizade, about the daily life of the children and the challenges they face, confirming the continuous support of the Big Benevolent Body to the valuable work of the SOS Children’s Villages.

A Defibrillator was formally delivered by Bro. Vasileios Aktipis, duly authorized by the Grand Charity, to the Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Mr. Ioannis Trepeklis, and to the Deputy Regional Governor for Social Policy, Solidarity, and Volunteering of the Ionian Islands Region, Mr. Theodoros Kontziallis, on August 12th, 2025.

The donation was received with gratitude, as it represents a meaningful contribution to the enhancement of public health services and the safeguarding of human life within the Ionian Islands Region. The Grand Charity reaffirms its steadfast commitment to supporting society through acts of solidarity, philanthropy, and practical assistance to communities in need.

On Saturday 5/7, the Grand Charity, the Provincial Grand Lodge of Athens and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Piraeus and Aegean Islands Archipelago offered a cheque for 3,000 euros to the Association for the Support of Children with Special Needs of St. Andrew “Storge”, which was received by the representative of the organization, Mrs. Sevasti V.
